Sports podiatry

Helping you manage and reduce musculoskeletal pain and injuries

We’re passionate about getting you back to the sport you love.

Years of treating a wide range of common sports injuries such as ankle sprains, knee pain, shin splints and Achilles tendinitis means we’ve seen it before and know how to help you.

Do you have a painful and inflamed ball of your foot? You may have metatarsalgia, which develops from running and jumping – our podiatrists can help with this too.

Common sports injuries we treat:

  • ankle sprains
  • knee pain
  • plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendinitis
  • shin splints
  • stress fractures
  • toe contusions.

Our podiatrists listen to your concerns and goals to create a personalised treatment plan. We want to see you get you back on the field, court or gym and enjoying movement again.

The great news is all our podiatrists are ACC registered and you don’t need a referral to see us. Simply contact us to make an appointment. We work closely with other professionals such as physios, osteopaths and orthopaedic surgeons to allow faster recovery.

If required, we will refer you to x-rays, ultrasounds, and other imaging services. Depending on the nature and stage of your injury, we can fit moonboots and braces.

We work closely with retail outlets like Shoe Clinic to keep up to date with the latest advances in shoe technologies. It’s important you get the best shoe type, brand and size to suit your foot type, level of activity and to correct your gait and posture if required.

What to expect from a sports podiatry consult

  1. We first look at the structure of your feet and lower limbs. Here we test the range of your movement, your muscle activation, and static posture.
  2. We often follow up with a gait analysis – a non-invasive way for us to diagnose and examine the way you walk or run.
  3. In some cases, we’ll check your shoes to see if they are helping you or making your injury worse. We will refer you to the correct retail outlet so you can get a proper shoe fitting.
  4. When treating a sports injury like plantar fasciitis, we begin with the most conservative and gentle treatments. This includes strapping.
  5. If the pain does not heal within the expected timeframe, we can escalate to other treatments including acupuncture, orthotics and shockwave treatment.
